Photos Alianza Youths 'Bright lights at Pascua Yaqui'

Alianza Indigena Sin Fronteras (Indigenous Alliance without Borders) welcomed everyone to the Pascua Yaqui Wellness Center on Aug. 16, 2014, for a day of fun and introspection. Discussions and workshops included education, experiences with school, alcohol/substance abuse, stereotypes and bullying, with young men's/young women's perspectives. The director of the Alianza is Jose Matus, Pascua Yaqui. Matus has spent the past 30 years bringing Yaqui medicine people from the Yaqui communities near Obregon, Mexico, an eight hour drive from Tucson, to Arizona in order to conduct Yaqui ceremonies.
